ABOUT THE ABBEY HISTORY FESTIVAL
Celebrate 40 years of the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology with a Journey Through the Ages at the Abbey History Festival at Abbeystowe. Presented by the award-winning team behind the Abbey Medieval Festival, this immersive weekend experience brings history to life from Ancient Rome to the 20th Century through reenactments, workshops, performances, music, lectures, markets, and hands-on family activities.
Wander through living history pockets of time from the Nordic Realm to Pemberley Promenade and No Man’s Land, enjoy medieval jigs and Japanese Awa-Odori dancing in the Music Hall, explore the bustling Abbeystowe Market, and experience Abbeystowe favourites including the Stag Inn, Abbey Archery, Birds of Prey and Kids Dig It! Kingdom.
Perfect for families, history lovers, and costume enthusiasts alike, the Abbey History Festival invites you to step through the gates this September for an intimate and interactive celebration of the past.

From the ancient artefacts in the Abbey Museum to real life reenactment, we’re bringing our collection to life with workshops, performances and demonstrations to transport you through time. Immerse yourself in an authentic and interactive experience suitable for the entire family!
Explore pockets of time, and journey through the ages from the Nordic Realm of the Vikings, to the Regency period at Pemberley Promenade. Visit the Shogun’s Court and the Govenor’s Square, or step into No Man’s Land and see the life and equipment of nurses and troops during World War I.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Abbey Dance Hall – presenting 2 days of Dance workshops through the Ages from Medieval to 1920’s.
Lecture Hall – historical presentations and lectures from historians and academics.
Music from around the world – from Scottish pipe bands to a string quartet.
Cultural performances – Japanese dances and First Nations performance.

Win tickets to the 2027 Abbey Medieval Festival
TERMS: Every order placed for the 2026 Abbey History Festival will automatically receive one entry into the draw to win four single-day passes to the 2027 Abbey Medieval Festival, valid for either Saturday or Sunday. This includes orders already placed.
One winner will be selected at random from all eligible order numbers on Sunday 27 September 2026 at the end of the Festival. The winner will be contacted using the email address and mobile number provided with their order. Prize tickets will be issued in 2027.
