Weapons or replicas are not permitted to be brought to Abbeystowe Challenger Clash or Abbey History Festival events.

For the safety and comfort of all guests, we therefore have included in our restricted items for this event, any item that could be used as a weapon or replica weapon be left at home for these events.

ATM’s will not be available at the Abbeystowe Challenger Clash or Abbey History Festival. Most vendors will offer eftpos facilities, but reception may be limited. Bring cash to avoid disruption.

Feel free to come dressed in costume, but consider your comfort and the weather.

We encourage you to come dressed in your favourite historical attire – many visitors do – although this is not compulsory!

NB: Please leave any weapons or replica weapons at home.

No, unfortunately there is no camping for the public available on or in the immediate area around the Abbeystowe grounds. This area includes the St Michael’s College and the Abbey Museum.

There are plenty of accommodation options in the area.

For the comfort and safety of visitors, performers, staff and volunteers, animals are not permitted to be brought into the Abbeystowe site, with the exception of service animals, such as certified assistance dogs and police dogs.

You will be required to show registration papers at entry for any assistance and certified dogs.

Photography is permitted via mobile phones for personal use only as per our terms and conditions. DSLR cameras & videography equipment including scope or long zoom lenses are strictly not permitted.

This is due to our existing agreements with media, and the dedicated service of our professional photography volunteers who go through procedures and policies to ensure safe practices and keeping with our historical experience. Our photographers are easily identifiable by the public by their authorised lanyards.

Companion cards are accepted upon entry with a valid, purchased general entry ticket. Excludes any VIP experiences or additional ticketed events. Companions are required to purchase tickets for these add-ons.

Free Parking at Abbeystowe is available on site for Abbeystowe events (excluding Abbey Medieval Festival). Due to the smaller capacity for Abbeystowe Challenger Clash and Abbey History Festival, there will be plenty of parking onsite.

Abbeystowe Challenger Clash and Abbey History Festival will not offer a scheduled shuttle service from Caboolture Station due to smaller capacity and enough onsite parking to accommodate.

The Abbey Medieval Festival exclusively operates FREE Shuttle buses which travel between Caboolture Train Station (cnr Walter and Mortimer St) every half an hour, with free parking available near Caboolture train station on Matthew Terrace, Walter St and Hayes St (this service is not available for other Abbeystowe events).

Please be aware the Abbeystowe site is a grassed surface used as a private field throughout the year, and despite our efforts it will always have some limitations.

We are committed to building upon our site infrastructure but please be aware this can take time and we appreciate your understanding.

Abbeystowe is not fully accessible, however we aim to offer you resources to better understand the limitations of the site.

The 2026 Abbeystowe Challanger Clash will be held on Saturday, 30th May – Sunday, 31st May

Gates open 9:00am – 5:00pm

The name originates from the Old French word “béhourd’ which means to “wallop”. Tournaments and buhurt gatherings are held all around the world, but the sport is most popular in Europe. Those brave enough to take part aim to knock down their opponent, using blows and various mixed-martial arts takedown techniques.

As an internationally recognised sport, there are rules in place for scoring and judging the winner.

Children 4 years and under are free but are not recommended for this event and must not occupy a seat.

The nationally award-winning Abbey Medieval Festival focuses on medieval Europe & Middle East from 500 AD – 1500 AD. Thanks to it’s increasing popularity, the Abbey Events team has been working hard to bring new experiences and events for the public to enjoy.

In celebration of the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology’s 40th Anniversary in June 2026, we are proud to announce the Abbey History Festival, bringing you an immersive journey through history spanning from the Romans through to the 20th Century. The Festival has been designed to highlight the diverse cultures and time periods showcased in the artfeact collections you can find at the Abbey Museum.

All funds raised through the Festival, and all Abbeystowe events, go back to the Abbey Museum to help conserve artefacts and continue offer educational and school holidays programs such as Kids Dig It.

Across the weekend, visitors can journey through pockets of time from the Nordic Realm to Pemberley Promenade to No Man’s Land (WWI), where dedicated reenactors, musicians, performers, and creators showcase their passion and expertise through immersive living history experiences.

Step into the Music Hall for two days of music and dancing through time, from lively medieval jigs and elegant Regency dances to the vibrant movement and rhythm of traditional Japanese Awa-Odori.

Enjoy the return of many beloved Abbeystowe favourites, from sharing a refreshing beverage at the Stag Inn, drawing back the bowstring at the Abbey Archery range, or meeting the Birds of Prey. 

Turn your eyes to the skies and watch vintage planes pass overhead for a dazzling air show. 

Step into the Lecture Hall and discover the stories behind the ages, as historical experts share captivating talks exploring ancient cultures, life, traditions, and the evolution of societies through time. 

Young adventurers can journey into the Kids Dig It! Kingdom for hands-on crafts and interactive activities or see the schedule for puppet shows and traditional children’s games promising fun for all ages. 

With a vibrant 2-day program to suit all ages and interests, there’s all of history to explore at Abbeystowe.
